Spider
your site for up to 500
Pages
|
By spidering
this deep, Google will know that you have an authority
site, not just a couple of pages hoping to sell
something. Google looks for sites with meaningful,
changing information and gives those sites higher
rankings, which is the name of the game.
Yes, 500
pages is a fair number, but many sites will have
more and should consider our
SitemapAutoUpdate Professional
Version for an unlimited number of
links, and for all the other advantages.
|
Create and submit a Google
Sitemap
|
As the
leading search engine, Google sets the standards
and the rules.
The Google Sitemap Protocol allows
a webmaster to inform search engines
about
URL's on a website that are
available for crawling. A
Google Sitemap is an
XML file that lists the URL's
for a site. It enables webmasters
to include additional information
about each URL - when it was last
updated, how often it changes, and
how important it is in relation
to other URL's in the site.
This allows search engines to crawl
the site more intelligently.
By submitting a
sitemap
to a search engine, a webmaster is
only helping that engine's crawlers
to do a better job of crawling their site.
The SitemapAutoUpdate
Professional Version provides unlimited
links to be spidered and mapped.
|
Create
and submit a Yahoo! Sitemap
|
Yahoo!
site maps began as simple text file site maps.
The original format was a text-only file using one
URL per line. Yahoo! has since expanded to
accept RSS and ROR site maps. The typical
naming for this file, as suggested by Yahoo, is
urllist.txt which pretty much describes what it
is and what it does for them.

It is an easy format for a human to look at and
review what your URL's look like in something much
easier to read than xml.
|
Create an OPML Sitemap
|
OPML
site maps are read in an OPML reader called an outliner.
They are also supported by some blog software as
the blogroll. A WordPress blog, for instance,
can use an OPML sitemap as the blogroll to offer
additional navigation into the main site.

The official home of the OPML format is available
at
OPML.org. OPML is of questionable value,
but the OPML 2.0 specification about to be released.
For this reason, we offer it in the spirit of more
can't hurt.
|
Create an HTML Sitemap
|
HTML
site maps are the most reliable format and are spidered
by every search engines' crawler. HTML sitemaps
are the most likely for people to use when they
visit your site. There are problems with Google
and the other engines when more than 100 links are
listed on a single page

Sitemap Auto Update
allows you to keep the number of links per page
below the Google maximum by producing multiple pages
that are interlinked. Simply because they
are easier to read, Yahoo accept RSS site maps.
The RSS feeds that generated by
Sitemap Auto Update
defaults to 50 links per page, which makes reading
easier.

We also allow you to use your meta descriptions
as a short paragraph below each page link.
This makes it easier for viewers to see what a page
is about. But of even greater significance,
it will show you those pages you have forgotten
to update the description. This is important
as Google does not like finding the same description
on each page and will penalize your ranking for
it.
|
The
Sitemap Auto Update Professional Version
offers everything
in the Free Version, but also offers the following additional features
and benefits:
 |
Create an RSS Sitemap
|
Both
Google and Yahoo! accept RSS site maps. The
RSS feeds that generated by
Sitemap Auto Update
are fully valid RSS qualified and designed to work
well with RSS readers. Most RSS readers will
report your newest pages at the top if the RSS feed
is correctly structured.

This means that your latest articles and newest
product pages will always be listed first when your
visitors subscribe to your RSS feed.
If you
are not familiar with the
RSS Protocol then click on the link and learn
more. This is a critical way to get your content
out there and to get good links back to your site.
The code that we produce is fully RSS 2.0 compliant
and you can easily validate our code at feedvalidator.org.
|
|
 |
Create an ROR Sitemap
|
ROR is
a rapidly growing XML format for describing any
object of your content in a generic fashion, so
any search engine can better understand that content.
Think of your ROR sitemap as a powerful structured
feed for describing all your objects to the search
engines: products, services, reviews, discounts,
images, events, schedule, podcasts, anything you
want.
ROR is much more than Google Sitemaps in some respects
in that it does not only help describe your sitemap,
but also products, services, feeds, articles, reviews,
archives, and many more objects. Also, ROR
Sitemaps are automatically readable by
all search
engines, including Google.

 |
Spider
Scheduling
|
Specify
exactly how often you want your site to be spidered by the Sitemap
Auto Update Professional Version
bot. This can be Monthly, Weekly,
Daily, 12 Hours, 6 Hours or even Hourly for
sites that change very quickly.
Tailor
your site's spidering according to your needs.
For instance, you may publish a weekly newsletter,
so you would choose Weekly. A daily blog
would call for Daily scheduling, etc.
It
is very important to match your spidering schedule
with the update frequency. Setting the
frequency too fast, i.e., Hourly for a site
that changes once or twice a month is bad.
Google will penalize you for this, severely,
because they consider it spamming their bots
and they don't like that at all. Schedule
responsibly.

Broken
Link Checker
The link checker reads an HTML or XHTML
document and extracts a list of anchors
and links.
It can start checking from any URL, from
the index, or from well down into the site,
or a single page.
This tool is downloaded and runs from
your desktop. It lets you quickly
find every broken link so you can easily
make corrections.

HTML
Validator
|
This
is an online service of w3.org, which is THE
authority for HTML and XHTML code, they are
the best - and the strictest to pass.
You must first decide on the standard you want
your page to be compared to. Then just
keep validating and changing to the standard
until you get it right.
NOTE:
This can be a frustrating, but a good learning
experience. If you are using something
like FrontPage, you will NEVER pass their standards.
But that does not mean you page is bad, not
at all. Do the best you can and then apply
the changes you made to all your pages.
Enjoy, be patient.

Rank Search
|
The PageRank Search
tool allows you to search Google using any keyword(s)
you wish. It will then return, in order
of Google relevance, the sites associated with
those keywords. Each result displays a graphical
bar with the PageRank of that particular site.
|
|
 |
Page
Rank Lookup
|
You can check
the PageRank for up to 100 websites by using
the Google Toolbar (represented by a horizontal
blue and grey bar). This tool streamlines
the process. Enter a list of URL's and it will
return the PageRank value for each one.
About PageRank - Google PageRank is a
general representation of a website's popularity;
it is primarily based on link popularity.
Websites with a high PageRank value will tend
to have more traffic and higher positions in
search engines (although many other factors
are also taken into consideration.
|
|
 |
Page
Keyword Density Lookup
|
Keyword density is important
because search engines
use this information
to categorize a site's
theme, and to determine
which terms the site
is relevant to. The
perfect keyword density
will help achieve higher
search engine positions.
Keyword density needs
to be balanced correctly
(too low and you will
not get the optimum
benefit, too high and
your page might get
flagged for “keyword
spamming”).
This tool
will analyze your chosen
URL and return a table
of keyword density values
for one, two, or three word
key terms. In
an attempt to mimic
the function of search
engine spiders, it will
filter out common stop
words (since these will
probably be ignored
by search engines).
It will avoid filtering
out stop words in the
middle of a term, however
(for example: “designing
with CSS” would go through,
even though “with” is
a stop word).
